It’s been a month since I moved my blog here

Today marked the first month of my blog here on WordPress. I moved Ravishing Tales here on 22nd March and I didn’t regret it. I love having the chance to interact with other bloggers! It’s really much better here. At least we can like posts and get notifications for comments. I guess I made the right decision.

Also, I can’t believe I’ve reached 50+ followers in a month! Words can’t express how grateful I am. Thank you for following me and reading my blog posts. There’re still a lot of things I want to share with you guys and rooms for improvement. I’ll do my best to run this blog better and I hope you’ll stick with me!

My Bookish Dream Crate – April 2017

Two weeks ago I read some blogs’ Dream Crate posts and think it is such a fun post to make. Apparently, Loot Crate has invited those bloggers to put together their ultimate dream crate. Being a new blogger, of course I didn’t get any invitation to make one, but I am going to make my Bookish Dream Crate anyway and make it a monthly feature on my blog!

I have been following OwlCrate and FairyLoot for a while and I love guessing what products and books they are going to put in their boxes. But, instead of posting my guesses here, I’m going to share with you guys what I think the perfect book box would be for each month, featuring a new release and several goodies.

Goodreads: Link to Hong Kong Public Libraries (or your local libraries)

Hello readers! Last week was National Library Week in the USA and Goodreads has published a series of very useful and fun blog posts, one of which is a tutorial for us to add library links to the Book Links under a book’s profile.

When I check the links in Hong Kong, there was only a link to an educational website for children and teens. I thought, why not add the Hong Kong Public Libraries link to the system so it’d be easier for Hong Kong readers to find the books we are looking for in libraries?

So I followed the steps and Goodreads has approved the link. To my Hong Kong reading fellows, the link will now show up when you edit your Book Links. Just choose the HKPL link and you can use it right away.

There’s one problem though. The search engine of the Hong Kong Public Libraries website is a bit complex and that’s why the link will only show the exact edition that you click the link on. For example, if you click the link on the page of Throne of Glass‘s paperback edition, the HKPL web will say “no results were found”.

It is because only the hardcover edition is available in the libraries and the link uses ISBN or ISBN13 to search for books.

So, it is not 100% user-friendly and I suggest you always click the Book Links on the hardcover edition page first.

To readers from all over the world, if you can’t find the links to your local libraries on Goodreads, You can follow this post and add it. I hope it will be useful to you. 🙂

Book Haul!

This is my first ever book haul post because I don’t usually buy a lot of books together. I know people shop from Book Outlet because it’s cheap, but the shipping fee to Hong Kong is so expensive that no matter how cheap the books are, the shipping will make the total amount bigger than buying at Book Depository.

So…yep, sometimes I wouldn’t even buy a book in a month. That’s why I have never done a book haul post before.

BUT.

I don’t know what was going on in my mind in March and early April. I bought a lot of books (maybe it’s not that huge a haul for you, but it definitely is for me). I know it is partly because of the Book Depository 5% off sale, but I have never bought more than three books at a time from BD. I also acquired some used books, and my boyfriend bought two books for me.
