This spooky collection of haunting stories from the “Queen of Cold Blooded Tales,” Roberta Simpson Brown, may well be, The Scariest Stories Ever Told. These chilling tales take place in familiar, everyday settings but they are jam-packed with enough ghouls, ghosts, and menacing spirits to give anyone the chills. Children will love seeing characters their age confront sinister creatures and work up the courage to explore supernatural occurrences at school, at home and around their neighborhood.

Scariest Stories Ever Told is a collection of horror short stories. These stories did not scare me at all, but I think they may scare children.
The book is divided into five sections. My favourite section is “Things Aren’t Always What They Seem” because the twists really surprised me. The other stories are okay. Personally I’m scared of bugs so the tales which include spiders, snakes, worms and so on feel more gross than scary to me.
Nevertheless, children are the target audience and the spooky places described in the book may keep them up at night. There are some stories which stand out from the others. “River Crow”, “Red Fang”, “Snow Flakes”, “Costume Party”, “Grave Situation” and “Rest in Pieces” are my favourite little tales. I also noticed that most stories are related to punishment of bad behaviours. The characters who break rules or make wrong decisions always meet a bad end.
This book did not scare me. Will it scare children? Maybe, but mostly I think children will learn to behave so they won’t end up terribly like the characters.
